The known astrophysical problem about the existence of static self-gravitating elastic bodies beginning with the end of XIX century was investigated by the methods of bifurcation theory. The authors of the reviewed article consider elastic bodies as corresponding to deformations of the reference state without any a priory size restriction and they are obtained as minimizers of the energy functional of the elastic body.
