For a prime \(p\) and a central simple algebra of \(p\)-primary degree over a field \(A\) let \(SB(A)\) be the corresponding Severi-Brauer variety. Let \(K_{0}(SB(A))\) be the Grothendieck group and denote by \({\Gamma}^d(SB(A))\) the gamma filtration. The well known theorem of \textit{D. Quillen} [Lect. Notes Math. 341, 85--147 (1973; Zbl 0292.18004)] describes the gamma filtration on \(K_{0}(SB(A))\). \textit{N. A. Karpenko} [\(K\)-Theory 13, No. 4, 305--330 (1998; Zbl 0896.19002)] gave a lower bound for the order of the torsion subgroup of the second subsequent quotient \({\Gamma}^{2/3}(SB(A))\) of the gamma filtration. In the paper the author generalizes this result and provides a lower bound for the order of the torsion subgroup \({\Gamma}^{d/{d+1}}.\) As an application of this bound the author obtains estimations of the torsion subgroups in both the Chow subgroups of \(SB(A)\) and the subsequent quotients of the topological filtration on \(SB(A).\) In particular the author finds a nontrivial torsion of the Chow groups in higher codimension and also shows the indecomposability of certain algebras. A new bound for the anihilator of \(\mathrm{CH}^{d}(SB(A))_{\mathrm{tors}}\) is also provided.
