The authors consider a chemotaxis-Stokes system modelling the collective behavior of chemotaxis-driven swimming aerobic bacteria in three-dimensional domains. The matrix-valued sensitivity function is rather general so that the system does not possess a gradient-like functional structure. Nevertheless, a new energy-type inequality is established, and this is the crucial tool in the proof of the existence of a global classical solution.
