    Let \(S=K[x_1,\ldots,x_n]\), where \(K\) is a field. Let \(I\) be a graded ideal in \(S\). By a result of \textit{M. Brodmann} [Math. Proc. Cambridge Philos., Soc. 86 (1979; Zbl 0413.13011)]. there exists \(k_0\in \mathbb{N}\), such that \(\text{depth}(S/I^k)=\text{depth}(S/I^{k_0})\) for \(k \geq k_0\). In the paper under review, the authors study about when can the numerical function, the `depth-function', \(k \mapsto \text{depth}(S/I^k)\) is a constant function for \(k\geq 1\), that is \(k_0=1\). The authors show that if {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize} \item[(1)] the Rees algebra \(R(I)\) of \(I\), is Cohen-Macaulay, \item [(2)] \(H_I^i(S)=0\) for \(i > \text{pd}(S/I)\), \item [(3)] \(I\) is a summand ideal, then the depth-function of \(I\) is constant, that is \(k_0=1\) (Theorem 3.4). In the monomial ideal case, the condition \((2)\) can be relaxed (Theorem 4.1). \end{itemize}}
