An Archimedean kernel of an \(\ell\)-ring \(A\) is an \(\ell\)-ring ideal \(J\) of \(A\) for which \(A/J\) is Archimedean. If \(A\) is a sub-\(\ell\)-ring of the \(\ell\)-ring of all continuous real-valued functions on some frame \(L\), the most obvious Archimedean kernels of \(A\) are those determined by some frame homomorphism from \(L\), that is, \(J=\{\gamma\in A\mid h\gamma=0\}\) for some frame homomorphism \(h: L \to M\). The purpose of this paper is to characterize function rings \(A\) on a frame \(L\) in which all Archimedean kernels of \(A\) are determined by the frame homomorphisms from \(L\). The paper provides three different characterizations for separating \(A\) in terms of the relation between \(A\) and the \(\ell\)-ring of all continuous real-valued functions on \(L\).
