Some standard concrete categories admit a structure of abelian monoidal categories, and it would be useful to have information about various coalgebras which can be associated to these categories. In the present paper the authors study various universal constructions of coalgebras, as cofree colagebras, limits and colimits of coalgebras in order o apply these in the above mentioned concrete cases. In particular they proved a finiteness theorem for comodule colagebras (Theorem 4.5) which states that if \(H\) is a bialgebra and \(C\) is a right \(H\)-comodule coalgebra then every finite subset of C is contained in a finite dimensional subcomodule coalgebra.
