In this work, the notion of Kähler rank is generalized to compact complex manifolds of arbitrary dimension and its properties are studied. First, the problem of the bimeromorphic invariance of the Kähler rank is discussed. There are examples that show that it is not a bimeromorphic invariant. The author studies the problem of when a plurisubharmonic function on the blow-up is the pull-back of a smooth function. This method leads to a system of differential equations, which is solved only up to order 3. Second, the author studies the manifolds of maximal rank. It is proved that a compact complex manifold \(X\) of dimension \(n\) with \(Kr=n\) and which admits a special Hermitian metric is in fact Kähler. It is conjectured that manifolds of maximal Kähler rank are in the Fujiki class \(\mathcal C\).
