This paper uses some clever elementary geometry to construct pairs of right triangles and parallelograms -- with sides of integer lengths -- with a common area and a common perimeter. The proof associates to each pair a rational point on an elliptic curve. The clever geometry is then used to construct at least seventeen points on the elliptic curve, implying by Mazur's classification of torsion points on elliptic curves over \(\mathbb Q\) that there are infinitely many such pairs.
