This paper under review is a continuation of the author's work [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 210, 117--126 (2013; Zbl 1263.13025)], where he introduced the notion of fuzzy semistar operations on an integral domain. In this paper, the author (i) defines a fuzzy semistar operation of finite character on an integral domain, (ii) gives several examples of semistar operations of finite character, (iii) proves that the set of fuzzy semistar operations of finite character on an integral domain is a complete lattice, (iv) shows that the fuzzy semistar operation defined by a finite collection of overrings is of finite character, and (v) constructs an example to show that if the collection of overrings is infinite, the corresponding fuzzy semistar operation may not be of finite character. He also (vi) exhibits an interplay between fuzzy semistar operations and classical semistar operations and (vii) describes the set of fuzzy semistar operations of finite character on a valuation domain.
