Let \(\overline{M}_{0,n}\) be the moduli space of stable genus zero curves with \(n\) markings. \textit{A.-M. Castravet} and \textit{J. Tevelev} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 675, 121--180 (2013; Zbl 1276.14040)] conjectured that the effective cone of \(\overline{M}_{0,n}\) is generated by boundary divisors along with divisors associated with certain hypertree graphs. The main result of the paper under review gives counterexamples to this conjecture. In order to construct the counterexamples, the author studies the pullbacks of certain extremal effective divisors found by \textit{D. Chen} and \textit{I. Coskun} [Math. Ann. 359, No. 3--4, 891--908 (2014; Zbl 1307.14034)] from \(\overline{M}_{1,n-2}\) and shows that they provide new extremal divisors.
