A priori estimates for the solutions of the Cauchy problem for the three-dimensional dissipative quasi-geostrophic system \(\partial_{t}u+v\cdot \nabla u - \Gamma u=F^{e}\), \(\mathrm{div} v=0\) are obtained. Here \(\Gamma\) is a non-radial homogeneous pseudodifferential operator of order 2. The main difficulty of the paper consists in the study of this operator. We mention that in the 2-dimensional case, which is well studied, the pseudodifferential operator involved in the equation is radially symmetric. The obtained estimates are used in another paper, [the author, ``Asymptotics and lower bound for the lifespan of solutions to the primitive equations'', Preprint, \url{arxiv:1411.6859v1}], to provide a lower bound for the lifespan of the solutions of ill-prepared blowing-up initial data.
