A stable rapidly oscillating periodic solution for an equation with state-dependent delay (Q330543): Difference between revisions

By constructing an explicit example, this paper proves the existence of stable rapidly oscillating periodic solutions to scalar differential equations with state dependent delay of the form \[ x'(t)=f(x(t-d(x_t))),\tag{DS} \] where the \(C^1\) function \(f\) satisfies the negative feedback assumption \(x\cdot f(x)<0\), \(x\not=0\) and the state dependent delay \(d\) has the form \(d=d(x(t), x(t-r))\) for some \(r\in(0,1)\). A rapidly oscillating solution to (DS) has more than one zero over any delay time interval. This work provides an affirmative answer, in the case of equation (DS), to a problem of existence of stable rapidly oscillating solutions in various classes of delay differential equations. Such problem of existence is still an open question for equations of type (DS) with a constant delay \(d\).
