The authors study a compressible Navier-Stokes type equation, which contains the Newtonian gravitational potential corresponding to the density, in the periodic domain \(R^3/Z^3\). No references are given concerning the homogenization theory. The results of [\textit{H. J. Choe} and \textit{B. J. Jin}, J. Korean Math. Soc. 40, No. 6, 1031--1050 (2003; Zbl 1034.76049)] are improved and the existence of a finite supremum of the density is proved. The \(L^{\infty}\) norm of the velocity is estimated, by using the Moser iteration. The main tools are Young, Hölder and Sobolev inequalities and the Sobolev theorem.
