    Let \[ Q_{\theta}=-e^{-i\theta}\frac{d^2}{dx^2}+e^{i\theta}x^2 \] be the non-self-adjoint harmonic oscillator, acting on \(L^2(R)\) for \(\theta\in(-\frac{\pi}{2},\frac{\pi}{2})\). Denote \[ \Omega_\theta=\{\Re t>0\}\cap \left\{t\in \mathbb C: |\arg\tanh t|\leq \frac{\pi}{2}-|\theta|\right\}. \] The author shows (Theorem 1.1) that the norm of the operator \(e^{-tQ_\theta}\) with \(|\theta|<\frac{\pi}{2}\) and \(t\in\Omega_\theta\), is equal to \[ \|e^{-tQ_\theta}\|=(\sqrt{1+A}+\sqrt{A})^{-\frac{1}{2}}, \] where \[ A=\frac{1}{2}|\sinh 2t|^2(\cos 2\theta +\cos 2\phi) \] and \(\phi=\arg \tanh t\in(-\pi,\pi)\). The author shows that the same method can be applied ``in any dimension, to the semigroup \(e^{-tQ}\) generated by an elliptic quadratic operator acting on \(L^2(R^n)\)''.
