Let $H$ be a Hilbert space and $T=(T_1,\dots, T_n)$ a commuting $n$-tuple of linear and bounded operators on $H$. If $T$ is considered as a bounded operator from $H$ into $\bigoplus_{i=1}^n H$, then $T$ has the polar decomposition $T=VP$, where $V:H\to \bigoplus_{i=1}^n H$ is a partial isometry and $P=(T_1^*T_1+\dots+T_n^*T_n)^\frac{1}{2}$ is a positive operator on $H$. The spherical Aluthge transform of $T$ is defined by \[\hat{T}=(\hat{T}_1,\dots \hat{T}_n)=(\sqrt{P} V_1 \sqrt{P},\dots, \sqrt{P} V_n \sqrt P)\] and the toral Aluthge transform of $T$ by \[\tilde{T}=(\tilde{T}_1,\dots \tilde{T}_n)=(\sqrt{|T_1|} U_1 \sqrt{|T_1|},\dots, \sqrt{|T_n|} U_n \sqrt{|T_n|}),\] where $T_i=U_i|T_i|$ is the polar decomposition of each $T_i$.\par Assume that $T_i$ has dense range for all $i=1,\dots, n$. The authors show that $\hat T$ has a nontrivial common invariant subspace if and only if $T$ does. \par Assume now that each $T_i$ has trivial kernel and dense range. The authors show that if $T_i T_j=T_j T_i$ and $T_iT_j^*=T_j^*T_i$ for all $i$, $j=1,\dots, n$, $i\neq j$, then $\tilde T$ has a nontrivial common invariant subspace if and only if $T$ does. The same conclusion is obtained under the independent condition $T_i U_j=U_j T_i$ for all $i$, $j=1,\dots, n$, $i\neq j$.
