Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds are complex non-Kähler manifolds constructed starting from number fields [\textit{K. Oeljeklaus} and \textit{M. Toma}, Ann. Inst. Fourier 55, No. 1, 161--171 (2005; Zbl 1071.32017)]. Their complex geometry reflects the arithmetic of the corresponding number field. This happens for example for the existence of Hermitian metrics of locally conformally Kähler type. Evidences of the above relation are given for example in [loc. cit.; \textit{A. Dubickas}, New York J. Math. 20, 257--274 (2014; Zbl 1290.11148); \textit{L. Ornea} and \textit{V. Vuletescu}, Stud. Univ. Babeş-Bolyai, Math. 58, No. 4, 459--468 (2013; Zbl 1313.53089); \textit{M. Parton} and \textit{V. Vuletescu}, Math. Z. 270, No. 1--2, 179--187 (2012; Zbl 1242.32011); \textit{V. Vuletescu}, Bull. Math. Soc. Sci. Math. Roum., Nouv. Sér. 57(105), No. 2, 225--231 (2014; Zbl 1389.11137)]. The author considers Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds coming from number fields admitting just two complex non-real embeddings, and he gives further evidences of the relation between their geometry and arithmetics. In doing this, he is motivated by a parallelism with arithmetic hyperbolic manifolds. More precisely, he proves that the number field can be reconstructed by the fundamental group; see Proposition 1, to be compared with the Mostow rigidity. (This is no more true in case of more complex places, see Example 2.) He relates the torsion of the first homology group in terms of an interesting ideal; see Propositions 2 and 6, and also to [Parton and Vuletescu, loc. cit.]. Finally, he computes the volume with respect to the canonical locally conformally Kähler metric in terms of the discriminant and the regulator of the number field, see Proposition 3, to be compared with the Humbert formula. (See also Proposition 4 on the realization of the smallest possible volume.)
