The author studies the long time behavior of solutions to \[ u_t + H\left(x,u,Du\right) = 0\leqno{(*)} \] on \(\mathbb{T}^n \times \mathbb{R}_{>0 }\). For \(H\) independent of \(u\), convergence results appeared in [\textit{G. Namah} and \textit{J.-M. Roquejoffre}, Commun. Partial Differ. Equations 24, No. 5--6, 883--893 (1999; Zbl 0924.35028)] for the torus and [\textit{A. Fathi}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I, Math. 327, No. 3, 267--270 (1998; Zbl 1052.37514)] for manifolds without boundary. While both approaches used a variational formulation, \textit{G. Barles} and \textit{P. E. Souganidis} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 31, No. 4, 925--939 (2000; Zbl 0960.70015)] took a different approach focused on viscosity solutions. For \(H\) dependent on \(u\), results appeared in [\textit{J. Yan} et al., Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. 36, No. 11, 6487--6522 (2016; Zbl 1352.37171)] using a dynamical systems approach meant to relate the asymptotics of \((*)\) to solutions of \[ H\left(x,v,Dv\right) = C\leqno{(**)} \] on \(\mathbb{T}^n\) for \(C \in \mathbb R\). Here the Hamiltonian must satisfy some combination of continuity, monotonicity, coercivity, and convexity assumptions. \textit{J. Yan} et al. [Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. 36, No. 11, 6487--6522 (2016; Zbl 1352.37171)] take \(H\) to be continuous, monotonic, super-linear and Lipschitz. The author takes \(H\) to be continuous, monotonic, (strictly) convex and satisfying \[ \liminf_{R\to \infty} \left\{ H(x,u,p) : x \in \mathbb{T}^n, \;|p| > R \right\} = \infty \] for all \(u \in \mathbb{R}\). Under these assumptions, existence and uniqueness are demonstrated for arbitrary continuous initial conditions. Moreover, convergence to a solution of \((**)\) as \(t\to \infty\) is shown granted the existence of a solution to \((**)\) with \(C = 0\).
