Let \(\mathbb D\) be the complex unit disc. The author recalls the Schwarz-Pick lemma and, then, defines a \textit{ramification distorsion function}: \[ D_{z_0}^{\mathbb D,\mathbb D}=D_{z_0}f(z)=\frac{\delta_{\mathbb D}(f(z),f(z_0))}{\delta_{\mathbb D}(z,z_0)^k} \] that measures the distorsion of a holomorphic function \(f(z)\) at a point \(z_0\in\mathbb D\), a branch point of ramification order \(k\geq 1\), weighted with the ramification order \(k\). After proving an important property of this function, the pseudo-hyperbolic distance on a manifold \(M\) is defined and, further, the principal result of the paper deals with the case of equality in the estimate of the Schwarz-Pick lemma. It is shown that this occurs for distance-nonincreasing holomorphic mappings, locally defined.
