This paper is concerned with the conjectures proposed by \textit{J. Kellendonk} and \textit{I. F. Putnam} [Math. Ann. 334, No. 3, 693--711 (2006; Zbl 1098.37004)] and by \textit{T. Giordano} et al. [Int. J. Math. 20, No. 9, 1107--1135 (2009; Zbl 1187.37008)] on cohomological properties of minimal, free \({\mathbb Z}^d\)-actions on Cantor sets. One of them states that the image of the Ruelle-Sullivan map is dense in the dual space \(({\mathbb R}^d)^*\). Here the authors show that these conjectures are incorrect. In particular it is shown that there exists a free, minimal, and uniquely ergodic \({\mathbb Z}^2\)-subshift for which the image of \(H^1\) under the Ruelle-Sullivan map is merely \({\mathbb Z}^2\).
