Let \(X\) be a metric measure space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss and \(H_{\mathrm{at}}^1(X)\) be the atomic Hardy space. \textit{P. Auscher} and \textit{T. Hytönen} [Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 34, No. 2, 266--296 (2013; Zbl 1261.42057); addendum ibid. 39, No. 3, 568--569 (2015; Zbl 1332.42029)] built an orthonormal basis of Hölder continuous wavelets with exponential decay over general spaces of homogeneous type. The authors obtain an unconditional basis of \(H_{\mathrm{at}}^1(X)\) and several equivalent characterizations of \(H_{\mathrm{at}}^1(X)\) in terms of wavelets.
