In [Adv. Math. 224, No. 3, 1057--1070 (2010; Zbl 1204.30018)], \textit{M. Mitkovski} and \textit{A. Poltoratski} proved the gap theorem, according to which the gap characteristic \(G(\Lambda)\) of a real discrete separated set \(\Lambda \subset \mathbb{R}\) is equal to the product of the lower Beurling-Malliavin density and of the number \(\pi\). To prove this theorem the authors used the theory of model subspaces of Hardy space \(H^2\), the theory of Toeplitz kernels and some other tools. In the given work it is proved that the above mentioned Gap Theorem can be deduced directly from the classical Beurling-Malliavin formula [\textit{A. Beurling} and \textit{P. Malliavin}, Acta Math. 118, 79--93 (1967; Zbl 0171.11901)] for the radius of completeness.
