In the paper the following differential equation is considered \[ \frac{d^2y}{dz^2}=\left\{ u^2f(z)+g(z)\right\}y,\tag{1} \] where \(u\) is positive and large, \(f(z)\) has a simple zero (turning point) at \(z=z_0\), \(f(z)\) and \(g(z)\) are analytic in an unbounded domain containing the turning point. To study asymptotic expansions of solutions of equation (1), the authors propose their own method, different from the classical one. It is based on the use of a certain exponential form of Liouville-Green expansions for solutions of the differential equation and the Airy function. In the authors' opinion, this method makes it possible to simplify the computation of the coefficients in asymptotic expansions. The efficiency of the method is shown in high-precision Airy-type expansions of Bessel functions. The results of comparative computations for this method, implemented on Fortran 90, with other known algorithms are presented.
