For a definite centroaffine hypersurface \(M\) of dimension \(n\), \textit{C. Scharlach} et al. [Beitr. Algebra Geom. 38, No. 2, 437--458 (1997; Zbl 0884.53013)] introduced a new curvature invariant, called \(\delta(2)\)-invariant of Chen: \[ \delta(2)(p)=\frac{n(n-1)}{2}\kappa(p)-(\sup\hat{K})(p), \] where \(\kappa\) is the normalized scalar curvature, \((\sup\hat{K})(p)\) is the supreme of the sectional curvatures at the point \(p\in M\). They also proved an inequality relating \(\delta(2)\), affine mean curvature and the Tchebychev vector field, and classified elliptic and hyperbolic affine hyperspheres realizing the equality if a certain \(2\)-dimensional distribution, denoted by \(\mathbb D_2\), is integrable. In this paper, the authors continue to study affine hyperspheres realizing the equality, including parabolic affine hyperspheres. As main results, firstly they classify parabolic affine hyperspheres realizing the equality if its scalar curvature is constant, or \(\mathbb D_2\) is integrable. Next, by introducing a \(3\)-dimensional distribution \(\mathbb D_3\) when \(\mathbb D_2\) is not integrable, they complete the classification of locally strongly convex affine hyperspheres realizing the equality if \(\mathbb D_3\) is integrable. Finally, they pose a conjecture and a problem in order to determine all affine hyperspheres attaining the equality.
