The authors consider a construction for spectral triples known as ``quantum double suspension'' (QDS). This was introduced by \textit{P. S. Chakraborty} and \textit{S. Sundar} [J. Funct. Anal. 260, No. 9, 2716--2741 (2011; Zbl 1213.58018)], where it was as well proved that, under a technical hypothesis known as ``weak heat kernel expansion property'', the QDS preserves regularity and discrete spectrum of spectral triples. This is the starting point for considering the local index formula for the QDS of a spectral triple. The goal is describing the local Chern character (a certain cocycle in the total complex of the \((b,B)\)-complex defining cyclic homology) in terms of linear functionals appearing in the local index formula for the original spectral triple. The computation in [\textit{A. Connes}, J. Inst. Math. Jussieu 3, No. 1, 17--68 (2004; Zbl 1074.58012)] for \(\mathrm{SU}_q(2)\) can be seen, in this light, as the case of the QDS of the unit circle. In the last sections, the authors apply their findings by giving explicit calculations of the local Chern character in two cases: the QDS of the \(2\)-sphere and the QDS of the noncommutative \(2\)-torus.
