The author gives conditions for divisors on compact Kähler manifolds to be fibers of holomorphic maps. The main properties needed are the vanishing of the self intersection of the divisor and that the image of the fundamental group of the divisor on the manifold has infinite index. Given an infinite covering of the manifold \(p:X\to Y\) such that a connected component \(C\) of \(p^{-1}(C_0)\) is compact where \(C_0\) is a divisor of \(Y\), then there is a proper holomorphic map \(f:Y\to B\) to a curve such that a multiple of \(C_0\) is a fiber of \(f\) provided the covering is Galois. Since the intersection of divisors is defined in terms of Chern classes, the author shows how to compute the intersection form on a manifold of infinite volume, which has as a consequence a weak Lefschetz theorem for divisors. Also, \(X\) is holomorphically convex as a result of the theorem, as was already expected for curves with vanishing self intersection in a surface when \(i_{\ast}\pi_1(C_0)\) is finite. The result also implies that there is a proper holomorphic map \(g:X\to B'\) to a curve such that a multiple of \(C\) is a fiber of \(g\). If the covering admits a proper Green function instead of being Galois, the results remain the same.
