Let \(\mathfrak{R}L\) be the \(\ell\)-ring of all continuous real-valued functions on a frame \(L\). A \(\gamma\in\mathfrak{R}L\) is \textit{locally constant} if there is a cover \(P\) of \(L\), with pairwise disjoint elements, such that the restriction of \(\gamma\) to \(\downarrow\!\!a\) is constant for every \(a\in P\). This paper investigates the sub-\(\ell\)-ring of \(\mathfrak{R}L\) formed by all locally constant functions. This sub-\(\ell\)-ring is the resulting image in \(\mathfrak{R}L\) of the embedding of the \(\ell\)-ring \(F(L)\), introduced in [\textit{A. K. Feizabadi} et al., Categ. Gen. Algebr. Struct. Appl. 5, No. 1, 85--102 (2016; Zbl 1367.06004)], in \(\mathfrak{R}L\).
