This paper aims to extending the Fourier transform to tempered distributions on the Heisenberg group. As in the Euclidean setting, the Fourier transform is an isomorphism on the Schwartz space. From this viewpoint the authors introduce an alternative definition of the Fourier transform. This Fourier transform of an integrable function is viewed as a uniformly continuous mapping on the set \(\mathbb{\tilde{H}}^d=\mathbb{N}^d \times \mathbb{N}^d \times \mathbb{R} \setminus \{ 0 \}\). This provides a user-friendly description of the range of the Schwartz space on the Heisenberg group by the Fourier transform which makes the extension to the whole set of tempered distributions.
