A double sequence \((s_{mn})\) is called \((C,1,1)\) summable to \(\ell\) if the double sequence \((\sigma_{mn})\) defined by \[ \sigma_{mn}:=\frac{1}{(m+1)(n+1)}\sum_{u=0}^{m}\sum_{v=0}^{n}s_{uv} \] converges to \(\ell\) in Pringsheim's sense. \((s_{mn})\) is called statistically convergent to \(\ell\) if, for any \(\epsilon>0\), \[ \lim_{m,n\to\infty}\frac{1}{(m+1)(n+1)}\left|\{(u,v)\in\mathbb{N}\times\mathbb{N}:|s_{uv}-\ell|\geq \epsilon \ \text{ and } \ u\leq m,\ v\leq n\}\right|=0. \] Here, the vertical bars represent the cardinality of the enclosed set. Also, if \((\sigma_{mn})\) statistically converges to \(\ell\), then \((s_{mn})\) is said to be statistically \((C,1,1)\) summable to \(\ell\). It is known that, if a double sequence is convergent in Pringsheim's sense (\(P\)-convergent), then it is statistically \((C,1,1)\) summable to the same limit provided that it is bounded. Nevertheless, the converse is not always satisfied. In this paper, the authors deal with converse results. They obtain conditions to recover \(P\)-convergence of a double sequence from its statistical \((C,1,1)\) summability. Such conditions are called Tauberian conditions in the literature. They use slowly oscillating type conditions in the case of double sequences of complex numbers and they use slowly decreasing type conditions in the case of double sequences of real numbers.
