The first-order neutral differential equation \[ (x(t)+r(t)x(t-\tau))' + \sum_{i=1}^m \phi_i(t) H\left(x(t-\sigma_i)\right)=f(t) \] is considered, where \(\tau>0\) and \(\sigma_i>0\) for \(i=1,2,\dots,m\). Necessary and sufficient conditions for \(\phi_i\) are obtained for which every solution is oscillatory or tends to zero as \(t\to\infty\), under some conditions on \(r\), \(H\) and \(f\).
