The following version of the Keller-Segel model with an additional cross-diffusion term is studied \[ \rho_t=\nabla\cdot(\nabla\rho-\rho\nabla c), \] \[ \varepsilon c_t=\Delta c+\delta\Delta \rho-c+\rho^\alpha, \] in bounded, smooth, two- and three-dimensional domains. When \(\delta>0\), the additional cross-diffusion term \(\delta\Delta \rho\) has a stabilizing effect on the solutions of that parabolic-parabolic system with \(\varepsilon>0\) -- they are global in time. The main results of the paper include the convergence of solutions of the parabolic-elliptic system (when \(\varepsilon=0\) and \(\alpha<2/d\)) as \(\delta\to 0\), together with convergence rates. Results of some numerical experiments are presented.
