The authors consider one-parameter quasi-periodic cocycles which arise from the study of the spectrum of discrete Schrödinger operators \(H_{\theta}:l^2(\mathbf{Z)}\to l^2(\mathbf{Z})\) of the form \[ (H_{\theta}x)_n=x_{n+1}+V(\theta+n\omega)x_n+x_{n-1}, \] where the function \(V\in C^2(\mathbf{T},\mathbf{R})\) has a nondegenerate unique global minimum. They show that the Lyapunov exponent of the family of cocycles is \((1/2)\)-Hölder but not \((1/2+\delta)\)-Hölder continuous on the whole interval of parameters for which the cocycle is not uniformly hyperbolic.
