The paper establishes a criterion for the discreteness of the spectrum in the class of infinite Hermitizable tridiagonal matrices, being the products of diagonal positive definite matrices and tridiagonal Hermitian matrices. To do so, they first devise a method to trasform (finite and infinite) Hermitizable tridiagonal matrices into isospectral birth and death matrices, also considering the numerical error introduced by the procedure.
