The authors introduce a class of nonlinear self-similar measures. Based on Banach's fixed-point theorem, they give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such measures. Then, they study the decay rate of the Fourier transforms of some typical nonlinear self-similar measures. They find that the Fourier transforms of these measures are usually localized and that the decay rate at \(\infty\) is dependent on the probability vector and the contraction ratios of contracting similarities. Moreover they give an optimal bound of infinity lower Fourier dimension of these measures. On the other hand, the authors study the infinity lower Fourier dimension of inhomogeneous self-similar measures, and give the lower and upper bounds for infinity lower Fourier dimension, improving a previous result by \textit{L. Olsen} and \textit{N. Snigireva} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 144, No. 2, 465--493 (2008; Zbl 1146.28005)].
