Let \((X, \phi)\) be a compact metric flow without fixed points. Let \(\mathcal{M}_T(X)\) and \(\mathcal{E}_{T}(X)\) represent the sets of all \(T\)-invariant Borel probability measures and ergodic \(T\)-invariant Borel probability measures, respectively. \textit{R. Bowen} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 184, 125--136 (1974; Zbl 0274.54030)] defined a version of topological entropy, nowadays called Bowen entropy. Bowen proved the following theorem: let \((X, d)\) be a compact metric space, \(T : X\rightarrow X\) be a continuous map and \(\mu\in \mathcal{E}_T(X)\). Then \(h^{B}_{\mathrm{top}}(\phi,G_{\mu})=h_{\mu}(T)\), where \(h^{B}_{\mathrm{top}}(\phi,G_{\mu})\) is the Bowen entropy of \(G_{\mu}\). In this paper, the authors generalize the above result to compact metric flows without fixed points and by using an approach different from that of Bowen's original proofs for \(\mathbb{Z}\)-actions. For \(\mu\in \mathcal{M}_{\phi}(X)\), if \(Y \subset X\) and \(\mu(Y)=1\), the authors obtain the inequality \(h_{\mu}(\phi_1)\leq h^{B}_{\mathrm{top}}(\phi,Y)\). Also, they prove the following: Theorem. Let \((X, \phi)\) be a compact metric flow without fixed points and \(\mu\in \mathcal{E}_{\phi}(X)\). Let \[G_{\mu }(\phi )=\left\{x\in X:\lim_{t\rightarrow \infty } \frac{1}{t}\underset{0}{\overset{t}{\int }}f(\phi _{\tau})d\tau=\underset{X}{\int }fd\mu,\quad \forall f\in C(X)\right\}\] be the set of generic points for \(\mu\). Then \(h^{B}_{top}(\phi,G_{\mu})=h_{\mu}(\phi_1)\). Then the authors set up a theory for Bowen entropy of general subsets for flows in the framework of Carathéodory dimensions. They obtain a Billingsley-type theorem or entropy distribution principle.
