This work considers the Kolmogorov system of degree 3 in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) and \(\mathbb{R}^3\) having an equilibrium point in the positive quadrant and octant, respectively. The authors provide sufficient conditions to assure that the equilibrium point is a Hopf point for the planar case and a zero-Hopf point for the case in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). By using first- and second-order averaging theory, the number of limit cycles bifurcating from these equilibria is studied. This is a good paper, potentially helpful for the study of related problems in neighbouring research fields.
