A \textit{period} of a complex manifold is the integral of a holomorphic \(k\)-form over a singular \(k\)-chain. Their properties such as the countability of their possible values for algebraic varieties and their study is of capital importance for instance in moduli problems. In the reviewed paper, the authors adress the computation of some specific period integrals for Calabi-Yau manifolds arising in the setting of mirror symmetry. They deal with the integral of the canonical holomorphic volume form over some specific singular chains called \textit{tropical chains}. The mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds establishes a correspondence between the symplectic geometry of a Calabi-Yau manifold \(X\) and the complex geometry of another Calabi-Yau manifold \(\check{X}\) called the \textit{mirror manifold}. A pioneering work of \textit{M. Gross} and \textit{B. Siebert} [J. Differ. Geom. 72, No. 2, 169--338 (2006; Zbl 1107.14029); J. Algebr. Geom. 19, No. 4, 679--780 (2010; Zbl 1209.14033)] gave an algorithm to construct such pairs \((X,\check{X})\) of mirror manifolds using log-geometry. More precisely, these manifolds arise as deformations of singular varieties which are union of toric varieties, glued together along their toric divisors. Such a singular variety is constructed using what is called a \textit{polyedral affine manifold}, which is a \(n\)-dimensional pseudo-manifold \(B\) endowed with a polyedral decomposition \(\mathcal{P}\) from which the degeneration is constructed. This construction enables the authors to build \(n\)-dimensional singular chains from \(1\)-dimensional singular chains called \textit{tropical chains} on \(B\). The main result of the reviewed paper computes the integral of the canonical holomorphic \(n\)-form on these tropical chains. The authors also give several applications including computation for the mirrors to the projective line and projective plane, degeneration of \(K3\) surfaces and rational elliptic surfaces.
