The authors use compact discretization in conjunction with the Crank- Nicolson formulation to solve Boussinesq's wave equation in an iterative procedure. Accuracy and efficiency are tested with the solitary wave solution. The method of solution is shown to be more efficient than others. It can be extended to the solution of other types of partial differential equations.
