The range-kernel complementarity discussed in the paper under review means the decomposition \(X=R(A)\oplus N(A)\) for a bounded linear operator \(A\), with range \(R(A)\) and kernel \(N(A)\), acting on the (complex) Banach space \(X\). Notice that, with respect to this decomposition, the operator \(A\) acts as an invertible operator plus the null operator. In this nicely presented paper, the authors introduce the notion of angle of \(A\) along a curve emanating from the origin and use it to characterize the range-kernel complementarity. Some generalizations to Banach algebras are also discussed.
