\textit{A. McD. Mercer} [J. Inequal. Pure Appl. Math. 4, No. 4, Paper No. 73, 2 p. (2003; Zbl 1048.26016)] presented a variant of the well-known Jensen inequality for a convex functions \(f:[m,M]\to\mathbb{R}\) as \(f\left(m+M-\sum_{j=1}^{k}w_jx_j\right)\leq f(m)+f(M)-\sum_{j=1}^{k}w_jf(x_j)\) for all \(x_i\in[m,M]\) and every probability vector \((w_1,\dots,w_k)\). The authors of [\textit{A. Matković} et al., Linear Algebra Appl. 418, No. 2-3, 551--564 (2006; Zbl 1105.47017)] gave an operator version of this inequality for convex functions. In the present paper, the authors give an operator variant of this inequality without the assumption of convexity. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1471.47002].
