In this contribution, the goal of the author is threefold. Firstly, to give a new proof of a well-known theorem by \textit{A. Máté} et al. [Ann. Math. (2) 134, No. 2, 433--453 (1991; Zbl 0752.42015)] dealing with the asymptotic behavior of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle. Its proof is based on an entropy estimate for the orthogonality measure. Secondly, the author highlights an extension of a theorem by \textit{G. Freud} [Acta Math. Acad. Sci. Hung. 3, 83--88 (1952; Zbl 0047.30404)] concerning averaged convergence of Fourier series. Thirdly, a discussion about some related open problems in the domain of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle has been assured.
