``The investigation of functions which coalesce multiple metric spaces into a single one dates back to the beginning of the 1980s when \textit{J. Borsík} and \textit{J. Doboš} [Math. Slovaca 31, 193--205 (1981; Zbl 0562.54016) and ibid. 32, 97--102 (1982; Zbl 0483.54019)] laid formal foundations to the concept of the product-wise metric preserving functions.'' In the present paper, the authors continue the research on functions preserving products of certain classes of generalized metric spaces, extend their scope to a broader class of spaces which satisfy some weaker form of the triangle inequality, and provide analogues of the results of Borsík and Doboš adjusted to the new broader setting.
