New HTENO (Hermite targeted essentially non-oscillatory) schemes are proposed to improve the performance of standard HTENO schemes, termed HTENO-I schemes. HTENO's smoothness indicators are simplified and can reduce the computational time significally. Moreover, the hybrid HTENO-I allows the high-demand scheme, i.e., HTENO-I scheme, to be used only in discontinuous. The numerical tests presented show that the proposed schemes achieve the desired order of accuracy and inherits HTENO's numerical resolutions while improving the computational efficiency.
