The main result in this paper is the following. Let \(A\) be an \(n \times n\) complex matrix with singular values \(r_j\) that satisfy \(0 \leq r_n \leq \cdots \leq r_2 \leq r_1< 1\). Then for any \(k = 1,\dots, n\), \[\prod^{k}_{j=1}\lambda_j((I-A^*)^{-1}(I-A^\ast A)(I -A)^{-1}) \leq\prod^{k}_{j=1}\frac{1+r_j}{1-r_j},\] \[\prod^{k}_{j=1}\lambda_{n+1-j}((I-A^\ast)^{-1}(I-A^\ast A)(I -A)^{-1})\geq\prod^{k}_{j=1}\frac{1-r_j}{1+r_j}.\] This extends a result of \textit{S.-H. Tung} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 15, 375--381 (1964; Zbl 0124.05403)], who proved the above inequalities for \(k=n\).
