    The Dold-Kan correspondence states that there is an equivalence between the category of nonnegative chain complexes and the category of simplicial objects, both defined in an abelian category. The main result of this paper establishes an analogous categorical equivalence but for idempotent complete additive categories (categories with split idempotents), so dropping the abelianness. As noted by the author, such result was already proved in [\textit{J. Lurie}, Higher Algebra. Harvard University (2017), \url{https://www.math.ias.edu/~lurie/papers/HA.pdf}] but the present paper has a different and more explicit proof. Besides, the text is an excellent guide to understanding the Dold-Kan correspondence and acknowledging techniques well-known by specialists but rarely well-described.
