The Iggle's theorem for the existence and uniqueness of a symmetric spinor potential \(L_{A_1\cdots A_n A'}\) for the symmetric spinor \(W_{AA_1\cdots A_n}\) is stated. The authors quote the corresponding Lanczos wave equation for \(L_{ABCA'}\) and \(L_{A_1\cdots A_n B'_1\cdots B'_m A'}\) showing how an algebraic constraint arises in general, if one demands a completely symmetric \(L_{A_1\cdots A_n B'_1\cdots B'_m A'}\). The important application to electromagnetism in curved space is given: the existence of the electromagnetic potential is independent of the second of Maxwell's equations. The role of Maxwell's equations is to ensure that this potential can be chosen hermitian. The existence of an \(H-\)potential in real curved space is investigated. The connection of the results of this paper with existing results and applications is discussed.
