The famous Mahler conjecture states that for a convex body \(K\), the \textit{volume product} \(\mathcal{P}(K):=\min_{z\in\mathrm{int} K}|K|\,|K^z|\) is minimized if and only if \(K\) is a regular simplex. Here \(K^z=\bigl\{y\in\mathbb{R}^n:(y-z)\cdot(x-z)\leq 1\;\forall x\in K\bigr\}\). Mahler himself proved it for \(n=2\), remaining still open when \(n\geq 3\). Many important progresses and partial results on this conjecture have been obtained in the last years. In the paper under review the authors consider the following engaging particular case of Mahler's conjecture: to minimize \(\mathcal{P}(K)\) in the class \(\mathcal{K}^n(G)\) of all convex bodies which are \(G\)-invariant for a general discrete subgroup \(G\) of the orthogonal group \(O(n)\). They solve this question in the 3-dimensional case when \(G=\langle R_{\ell},H\rangle\) with \(\ell\geq 3\), where \(R_{\ell}\) and \(H\) mean the rotation through the angle \(2\pi/\ell\) about the \(z\)-axis and the reflection with respect to the \(xy\)-plane, respectively; and for \(G=\{g\in SO(3):g\triangle=\triangle\}\), \(G=\{g\in SO(3):g\diamondsuit=\diamondsuit\}\) and \(G=\{g\in SO(3):g\Xi=\Xi\}\), where \(\triangle\), \(\diamondsuit\) and \(\Xi\) denote the regular tetrahedron, the regular octahedron, and the regular icosahedron with \(0\) as their centroids, respectively.
