    The authors study the asymptotical behavior of solutions of the family of planar systems \begin{align*} & x'=k(y-x)+x -\beta(t)x^3, \\ & y'=k(x-y) +y -\beta(t) y^{3}, \end{align*} where \(k\ge 0\) and \(0<\beta_0\le \beta(t)\le \beta_1\) for any \(t\in \mathbb R\). In particular, it is proved that: \begin{itemize} \item[1.] The above system admits a compact global attractor; \item[2.] Taking into account that the above system is a nonautonomous perturbation of the autonomous gradient system \begin{align*} & x'=k(y-x)+x,\\ & y'=k(x-y) +y, \end{align*} a complete description of the structure of the compact global attractor for the perturbed system is given. \end{itemize}
