The authors prove the following result: Let \(M^ n\) be a locally strongly convex affine hypersphere in \({\mathbb{R}}^{n+1}\) with constant sectional curvature with respect to the affine metric h. Then M is an open part of a quadric or M is affine equivalent with \(x_ 1x_ 2... x_{n+1}=1.\) This result generalizes similar theorems obtained by A. M. Li, G. Penn, M. Magid and P. Ryan for dimension 2 and by J. H. Yu for dimension 3. It also proves the following conjecture by M. Magid and P. Ryan under the extra assumption that the affine metric is positive definite: Let \(M^ n\) be an affine hypersphere in \({\mathbb{R}}^{n+1}\) with constant sectional curvature with respect to the affine metric h. If the Pick invariant J of the immersion is different from zero, then M is either an open part of a quadric or M is affine equivalent with \[ (x^ 2_ 1\pm x^ 2_ 2)...(x^ 2_{2m-1}\pm x^ 2_{2m})=1\quad if\quad n=2m \] or with \[ (x^ 2_ 1\pm x^ 2_ 2)...(x^ 2_{2m- 1}\pm x^ 2_{2m})x_{2m+1}=1,\quad if\quad n=2m+1. \] Apart from the positive definite case, which we mentioned earlier, this conjecture has also been proved if \(n=2\) (Magid-Ryan, Li-Penn) and if \(n=3\) (Magid- Ryan). The general case however is still an open problem.
