Symmetry techniques for expressing various differential forms in terms of simplified coordinate systems are studied in this paper. The works of Lie and Cartan are used to study how symmetries may be used in integration of Frobenius distributions. Extensions of the Lie symmetry approach, based on a solvable structure of symmetries, are given. These are used by the authors to examine conditions under which a given differential form can be expressed in a simpler coordinate system. Applications to Pfaffian and Darboux systems are then given with examples.
