This paper presents an extensive study of the Einstein equations with fluid sources of various types, perfect, viscous, anisotropic, with the additional assumption of the existence of a covariantly constant vector field. It is found that the only perfect fluid solutions are the Einstein static universe and stiff matter. Other very restrictive conditions are found for other fluid models.
